Cade | Kansas City Newborn Photographer

FINALLY! I have finally blogged baby Cade’s newborn portraits! I am so behind but trying to catch up! Now I have entire family photos to post! But first, Cade’s newborn portraits. If you follow my work, you no doubt know who Cade is, he is a little man who just melts my heart into a big pile of mush and I barely get to see him because I live an hour and a half away. You can read about Cade’s birth story and see his mom’s slideshow HERE (it made ME cry!), you can watch my faster version of the slideshow HERE and if you actually want to go back in time and be THERE, check out Maura’s birth film of Cade’s birth HERE. This kid has made his rounds on my blog and he’s not done yet! That’s what I LOVE about my birth clients, is I get to document and truly photograph history in the making. And you get to be there!

So a few days after Cade was born, Daniel and I were on our way home from Omaha. The long way. Being that I-29 was closed due to the flooding, we drove 1/2 way across MO and Iowa just to get to St Joseph, then decided we’d head to Atchison St Joe. WELL, we made it all the way to within Atchison from across the river and were flooded out. Had to take an hour detour just to get there. So all in all, we travelled 6 hours in what should have taken 3. Crazy. For Cade’s newborn portraits, we really kept it simple and sweet and just did portraits of the little guy (usually I also get lifestyle candids with family but we chose not to this time around). He was out cold and all he wanted to do was STRETCH. I finally got him to let me work with him a little bit, but it took some coaxing. I gifted him with the Home Grown onesie (from baby Gap a few years ago, I had originally bought it for my own one day baby but this was the perfect opportunity to see it lived in), his great grandma made him the patriotic military blanket, and we used the military dog tags that Cade’s mom had custom made for him. All the while missing his daddy serving our country in Afghanistan.

Can’t wait to share their FAMILY photos we captured while daddy was home on leave. Stay tuned!

God Bless,

Jessica
