This was touching and tugged at my heart strings. Having lost a child myself, I've felt "sucker-punched" by questions several times. "How many children do you have?" or when I was pregnant with my youngest son, "Is this your first?" All reasonable questions, I just didn't have a reasonable answer. And, I can relate to having to *decide* how I will deal with this hand I've been dealt and not give in to the pain. I've often thought of people I know who are struggling to have a child, and thought even with all the pain of loosing my son, at least I had him. I wish you the best of luck in your adoption process. I know when the day comes and you wrap your arms around your little one, it will be worth the wait!

I just stumbled across your blog and HAD to leave a comment here. You are amazing. I relate well to your story (we've been trying for 6 years, married for 8) and I agree with your perspective and love the way you got it out in words. I'm right there with you and know that having a positive outlook, only leads to better and happier things. Being angry or having self-pity doesn't change anything . . . except makes us all feel worse. Way to keep your chin up and way to share your perspective because it helps others to "kind of" understand where some of us live our lives every day.

Hey Jess! I think really AMAZING birth photographers know what a profound moment it is and how humbling it feels when a couple asks you to attend their birth. The fact is, not every photographer can photograph births. And when you do, you leave a piece of your heart with that family. That is what your work shows. You see the emotion behind that, give parents and families a priceless gift, and constantly inspire other birth photographers. Just because you haven't experienced having a baby of your own (YET), either through conceiving or by adoption, doesn't mean that you don't recognize the depth of emotion that goes on when a new family is born. We know you do, we see it in your work. And we love your work for it! Lots of love, it will happen!!! :)

Jessica I know you will be a mom. God has the perfect child for you biological or not. Note that I didn't say the perfect child - I said the 'perfect child for you'. And you'll be the perfect mom for that little one. Motherhood in it's rawest form is realizing you're not perfect but in your weakness is when God is unhindered from shining his most. I think a mother whose child is born from her heart is more admirable. I anxiously await for that baby shower so make sure to send me an invite! :)

Thank you
